Our Doctrine
Our statement of faith is based on the confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the one true living God and we accept Him as our Savior. Our congregation at Christian Church of Hillsboro.
We believe that God exists in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (11 Corinthians 13:14).

God the Father: He is omnipresent (is everywhere at all times), omniscient (all-knowing) and omnipotent (all-powerful). He is a loving and just God wanting all to be saved.
God the Son: He is the Only-begotten Son of God the Father. Born to the Virgin Mary making him the Son of Man and the Son of God.(Luke 2:26-32; Colossians 1:15-18; Hebrews 2: 14-18)
God the Spirit: Is the indwelling of God that comes to an individual believer at the time of his baptism. The Holy Spirit is there to guide, convict, enlighten and comfort the believer. (Acts 2:28; John 16:7-14)
Authority of Scripture
We believe that the Bible (The Scriptures) is the Inspired Word of God. It is the final authority for the Christian's walk and the direction for His Church. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)
We are to use the Word as our guide through all matters of life.
We believe that God so loved the world that He gave his Son (Jesus Christ) as the only atoning sacrifice for mankind. (John 3:16, 17;Colossians 1 :14; Romans 3:23-26)
We must repent of sin and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior on an individual basis. We must publicly confess Jesus as the Christ.
Our salvation is made complete when we are baptized (immersed) and receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When we are baptized we become dead to our sinful nature, buried with him and raised with him to live a new life. Man cannot ever atone for his own sin through works, knowledge or enlightenment.
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. He arose from the grave in three days and appeared to his disciples and many others in physical form.
He ascended into heaven at the end of His given time on earth.
He is our advocate as the High Priest before God the Father.
We believe that He, Jesus Christ, is coming again.
We believe communion (also called the Lord's Supper) is a repeatable and visible participation in the New Covenant.
We believe that the Church is the Bride of Christ and as such we fall under His protection and authority in all matters both spiritual and physical. Since Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law we believe all scripture is good for teaching, disciplining and guiding the Church, both the corporate body and as
individuals.
We believe from the Scriptures that marriage is between a man and a woman. It is an institution set in place by God as an example of how Christ cares for his church. This church affirms that all marriage ceremonies performed in the name of this church, or weddings performed by church ministers and staff, must be in keeping with this church's adopted biblical and theological definition of marriage.
We, as Christ is our example, must love the sinner but hate the sin. Because of our Lord's example, we accept all peoples into our worship of Him.
We are to speak boldly where it speaks and be silent where it is silent.
We believe that all men now sin. This sin causes both physical and spiritual death which is separation from God. Man is born with a sinful nature and when he can understand the moral responsibility of this he becomes subject to the consequences of his thoughts, words and deeds.
